Some differences between Warcraft III: Reforged with the Classic version

Warcraft III: Reforged

Warcraft is a legendary game for all real-time strategy game titles. Along with Command and Conquer, Warcraft has been able to revolutionize the genre of their game, while offering a timeless story line.

After 18 years, Blizzard will re-release the remastered from this game with the title Warcraft III: Reforged for the PC platform.

Along with the development of the times and current technology than 18 years ago, Warcraft III: Reforged will certainly be present by presenting new things than the previous series, although the players can play across versions.

There are many differences that will be present in Warcraft III: Reforged when compared with the Classic version. Here are some differences that are worthy of being highlighted:

Graphic enhancements

The biggest difference between Warcraft III: Reforged and Classic is a massive increase in graphics. Character models, units, buildings, environments, etc. have been remade to display figures such as Jaina Proudmoore and Arthas Menethil in stunning detail.

While in the case of animated battles did not increase significantly. The number of frames in Reforged also remains the same as the Classic version. However, other features such as 4K resolution support make players still able to feel the new and sharp visual appearance.

Cinematics and HD Cutscenes are better

There will be a lot of cutscene and cinematic change. The best scenes can be seen in the cinematic intro "The Prophecy", where all assets have been improved, the resolution is higher, and the texture quality is outstanding.

Interaction in the game also seems to have experienced some significant improvements. The scene of Uther and Arthas standing together will now be present in a better perspective, complete with speech gestures and dialog boxes and detailed facial and body animations. Even something very simple when Jaina left Arthas, is now presented as a cinematic scene, complete with cinematic scenes and camera cuts.

Modified Campaign Maps

Reforged will have the same Campaign mode as the previous series, but some maps have received significant changes. Culling of Stratholme, for example, will be different from the original game.

It is also intended to better align the appearance of the area with World of Warcraft. Players will also get the Exodus of the Horde prologue and the Founding of Durotar campaign bonus that has been included in Reforged.

Re-record Voice Over

The entire dialogue in the game has now been re-recorded and should improve the quality significantly. Dialogue in interaction has now also been fully synchronized with the lips of the characters involved which allows the delivery of messages and emotions from these characters can be more obtained by the players. For the sake of maintaining the authenticity of the game, the story script will remain the same.

Easier to reach by the players

If you tried playing Warcraft III a few years ago and had a hard time playing it, now Blizzard has understood your disappointment. Now everything will be much easier for all players to access, even for those who are new to this game.

Once again, this does not mean this game has changed from before. Blizzard just wants this game to be played by all people. Basically, there will be an Easy Mode for the campaign mode to make it easier for new players to understand the game.

User Interface (UI) and Quality of Life Improvement

Patch Warcraft III version 1.28 was released in April 2017 and became the basis for Reforged to be able to introduce more display options, cover various exploits and issues such as a disconnection with Battle.net when the game is finished, and others.

The next patch will introduce 24 player lobbies and improvements for World Editor. None of this had ever existed in the base game. While in terms of UI, there are some improvements in quality, although the players still have the option to use the Classic version.

World Editor

World Editor of Warcraft III cannot be underestimated. This is very important in creating Defense of the Ancients as the "craziness" humorists of players currently playing MOBA games, especially Dota 2.

Now Blizzard has promised "millions" of special games for tower defense, action RPGs, survival matches and more on Reforged. For those who want to use the World Editor on Reforged will include all special folders from the base game.

"Hundreds" of changes for adjustment

It will not become a remastered game without the presence of some significant changes to create balance. Blizzard promises "hundreds" of changes to different units and heroes, and will even change several maps.

On the other hand, if the balance is changed too much, this can actually make this game different from previous versions. This is something Blizzard most avoided.

Multiplayer Battle.net

Multiplayer will rely on the integration of Battle.net on Reforged. Lobbies has been upgraded to accommodate 24 players so that players can play with more friends on Battle.net.

Classic vs Reforged

If you have a Classic version of the game, you can play against players who have Warcraft III: Reforged. Both of these versions will be compatible to play cross version. This means that the player base will be expanded for contemporary RTS fans and those who prefer to stick with the Classic version.
